As we travel, we try to remember our favorite resturants so when we are back in the city we can enjoy the food and the memories. We thought we would share our list with you….

Banff, Alberta, Canada

  • Grapes - Tucked away in the Fairmont Banff Springs, this six table restaurant has an impressive diversity of entreés and an incredible wine selection. Every bite of food and sip of wine was simply amazing, perhaps the best restaurant we have ever eaten at. Be sure to save room for the Chocolate Fondue for dessert you won’t be disappointed.

Brewster, NY

  • Rraci’s - Simply wonderful. The atmosphere, the people, and the food are just amazing. Each visit we are spoiled by Hayden and his staff. Mom and dad were treated like local celebraties and since dad’s death, the staff at Rraci’s has been wonderful providing support, a glass of wine and a hug to mom each time she has been there.

Boston, MA

  • Lucia - An excellent little Italian place in the North End…walking distance from the Marriot on the Warf, we were there twice over a week…yes the food was that good.

Chicago, IL

  • Volare - Perhaps the best Italian food outside of grandma’s kitchen. The portions are large, the wine is wonderful, and the atomsphere is great. Within walking distance of the miracle mile and the W Lakeshore, you would walk right by it if you didn’t know specifically where you were going. Make a reservation, because unless you are “known” you aren’t getting in on a Friday or Saturday night without one.

Dumfries, VA

  • Tizano’s - A nice little surprise we found in the last few months of our stint in Dumfries. If you can get past the “cheesy” atmosphere, the food will be a wonderful surprise. The owners are great and always make you feel welcome. Right off I-95 at exit 152A in Virginia.

New York, NY

  • Carmine’s - Meals are served family style and are truly authentic. The quintessential NY italian resturant, need we say more.
  • Carnegie Deli - The rudness of NY waiters and the fantastic food of a NY jewish deli, a combination that can’t be beat!

San Francisco, CA

  • Cafe Riggio - A little hole in the wall Italian resturant on the 4100 block of Geary (a little ways from downtown). Well worth the trip. We found this on our first trip to San Francisco and have been back each and everytime we’re there.
  • Max’s - As close to a NY jewish deli as you can get out on the other coast, great food for right after you land in the city by the bay. There are mutliple locations, but our favorite is the diner location near the Moscone.

Washington, DC

  • City Lights - Just north of Dupont Circle, incredible Chinese food. Generally, you can find a recognizable face in the crowd if you are into politics. Just watch out for the secret service escorts, they might run you over :)
  • Morty’s - The quintessential Jewish deli in DC northwest. The surly service combined with incredible food (particularly the corned beef) makes this a stop well worth making.
  • Tony Cheng’s - Mongolian BBQ…I found this shortly after I moved to DC and was quickly hooked.

Williamsburg, VA

  • Center Street Grill - A quiet little place in the middle of New Town. It has a bar that has played host to a few Perceiva sponsored Mix-N-Mingles and a dining room that has served as spot for a business lunch or a nice dinner with Cindy. The food is great, the service very good, and the atmosphere relaxing.
  • Christiana Campbell’s - A special place in Williamsburg. On our first day trip to Williamsburg, we had dinner here, and it was the site of our rehearsal dinner. They have great spoon bread & fried chicken!
  • DaddyOs - A great collection of pizza and paninis. Off the beat and path in Norge (on Route 60) by the new Farm Fresh.
  • Florimontes - Heaven on earth for displaced NYers. Boar’s Head cold cuts, prepared specialties and true New York pizza.
  • Moes - Not really in Williamsburg and normally we don’t endorse chain resturants, but dang this stuff is addictive. A great combination of south west/Mexican food.
  • Sal’s by Victor - It took forever to find this gem, but it is perhaps the best italian place we have found outside of NY. They have wonderful bread, salads like Grandma’s and a friendly wait staff. And, they deliver!
  • Dr. Liu’s - Perhaps the only chinese resturant in Williamsburg. It is okay, nothing wonderful…but passable.
  • Stephano’s - A local grider shop just off campus in Merchant Square. It is part of Season’s, but less formal and has great subs.
