Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure!

Written by Greg on May 4, 2008 – 10:13 am -

Happy Sunday, I hope this message finds you well.

For the fourth year, Cindy and I will be participating in the Susan G Komen National Race for the Cure to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. We again are walking in honor of Ginny DiStephano, a dear family friend of the Smiths and in memory of Carol Wolfe a close friend of the Taylor family. Unfortunately, we lost a member of our extended family to what started as breast cancer, so our 5k walk around downtown DC will be dedicated to Nancy Ring.

The Koman organization started as a promise between two sisters. Suzy Komen was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 33 and said to her sister, as soon as I get better, let’s do something about this. Suzy lost her battle with breast cancer, but Nancy has kept her promise; 25 years later and over $2 billion invested in breast cancer research we all have made great strides, however there is much more work to be done.

Please support Cindy and I as we join tens of thousands of others on June 7 in the National Race for the Cure in downtown Washington, DC. My goal is to raise $1000 and every dollar counts. Please help me meet my goal, you can donate here:

Thank you as always for your support!

Busy days at General Gookin…

Written by Greg on June 17, 2007 – 12:58 pm -

It has been a couple of crazy weeks here. Cindy has started her new career in real estate with William E. Wood and Associates here in Williamsburg. Be sure to sign up for her real estate newsletter to get updates. She has been sitting open houses for agents and has been getting to know folks in our community.

We went out yesterday afternoon to the driving range. It is clear that I did not inherit my father’s ability to golf, but none the less it was fun.

We seem destine not to participate in the Relay for Life. This year, after Cindy left her old job, we joined up with Williamsburg Communications and had the 12a - 1a shift. I was in DC that day, but drove back down to the event. It wound up getting called on account of the heavy rains and tornado like winds. But alas, the money we raised went to a great cause.

5k done…more to go…

Written by Greg on April 29, 2007 – 12:12 pm -

Yesterday Cindy and I completed the Arthritis Walk-A-Thon. Thanks to your help, we achieved our goal of raising $200 for the walk.

The walk was nice, though I have to say wasn’t as moving as Komen National Race for the Cure, but it was a nice event none the less.

Written by Greg on March 4, 2007 – 10:34 am -

It has been quiet around here for a little bit, for that I apologize. It has been crazy around 3724 General Gookin. I will post more of an update later, but I wanted to share this link…

Cindy is the team capitan for the Coldwell Banker Professional Realtors Relay for Life Team. We are looking for support to reach her personal goal of raising $500…if you can help, please see her donation page.
