Several days ago Saddam Hussein was hung for crimes against humanity. One has to ask, is the world a better place with Saddam dead as opposed to a jail cell?

Many of your know, I would consider myself a recovering Catholic, but the Vatican quickly denounced the hanging calling it “tragic and reason for sadness” and I have to agree. There is no question that the man had done evil things and needs to be punished, but is putting someone to death any better then the original crime of murder? Cindy will disagree with me on this point, but I must say, that the death penalty is no better then the original crime. I understand Cindy’s perspective and I find myself going back and forth a lot, but I think I have concluded (for now) that the death penalty is in fact immoral.
