Williamsburg, finally!
My journey began yesterday morning at 4a Denver time. I called to get switched to the 7:59a flight out of Denver to Atlanta (my least favorite airport in the world). Once I was confirmed on the 7:59, I made the journey from the corporate apartment to the airport (about 45 minutes). The temp was -17 degress, fahrenheit. Of course, I had to stop and get gas for the Pathfinder Armada before getting on E470. So once the rather large tank was filled, I made my way down the black ice encrusted road to the airport. After dropping the rental car off and hoping on the little mini-bus over to the terminal, I grabbed my tickets, grabbed some thing to eat and waited for my plane, I sat down and promptly fell asleep, even before we made it to de-icing. I woke up about 20 minutes before we landed in ATL which is where the problems began. I got off the plane to find my Richmond flight had been cancelled, no apparent reason, just canceled. I made my way to the Delta Crown Room at B25 in Atlanta to find they had rebooked me on the 3:12p flight, okay I thought this would give me a chance to get something to eat, check email, and such. The 3:12p flight became a 3:40 flight, at which time I received a txt message from Stephen saying he had landed in DC. Mind you he left Denver at 10:30a (for those keeping score, 2.5 hours after I did). We finally took off and I was home bound. At about 5:00p we landed in Richmond. I was the first one off the plane (being up front has its priviledges) and made my way to baggage claim…but no bag. I went to the baggage claim office and was told, “oh yeah, 180 bags didn’t make the flight” we will get it to you tonight. Her casual attitude bothered me…I am a frequent flyer with Delta, I was flying first class, had priority tags on my luggage, had been on the ground in Atlanta for more then 3 hours. Last night came and went with no luggage. This morning at 7:14a I get a call from Delta telling me the luggage is on the way and it will be there within an hour…sure glad I was woken up to tell me that it would be there in an hour.
Each of these events were not huge issues, but add them all together and I have decided to shop for a new preferred airline…any suggestions?
I love flying. I can’t wait to take Ava on her first plane trip.
Just stay away from Delta…support my boycott
I have good friends who are delighted with SouthWest Air
I know I am going to sound “snobby” saying this….but I don’t think I could live with Southwest as a business traveler. No Crown or Red Carpet Club…
